I really tried to keep the ten days going, but c’mon, nine days passed, and all I’ve made is less then one dollar.
I’ve got 496 clicks in those nine days, and nearly no revenue whatsoever. My CPM is so low I can’t even express it in solid numbers, and the Adsense revenue has dropped by 50% to 75% during those nine days, so no, there is no real reason to leave those AuctionAds for another day.

I’m back to normal adsense, and hopefully revenue will jump back to normal once I remove AuctionAds from CashCook.Info

So, this challenge is a total failure, I know other webmasters have made quite a nice sum with AuctioAds. I guess I failed because CashCook.info isn’t so much product oriented, and anyway, the chance that freebie-lovers buy something isn’t too high, is it?

So… two more days passed since last report. Let’s see how are my stats now.

Well, to tell the truth, there isn’t much new to say.

Yesterday an auction that starter on the 16/6th ended, and gave me 34 cents, nearly quadrupling my income from 13 cents to a the unlivable amount of 47 cents. Yeah, I know, with Adsense I’m making that same amount in a single day, and here it took me a week to reach this amount.
And before placing AuctionAds I was making four times the amount with Adsense.

Altogether up until now I got 27658 impressions, and 424 clicks. That’s 0.005 CPM or 0.009 CPC. I would have done better if I placed a few cheap CPM banners ads on my site.
Three more days until I can finally remove those pesky Ads from CashCook.Info, unless of course a miracle happens, and suddenly those ads make 50 bucks (and believe me or not, but many webmasters had such spikes with Auction Ads).

AuctionAds.com has offered it’s publishers a challenge to add their ads for 10 days, and see how it works for them.
For those who doesn’t know, AuctionAds is a new publisher network, that allows it’s publishers to place Adsense-style affiliate ads.
The publisher gets paid each time a visitor clicks an ad, and buys anything on eBay.

The main turn-off that made many publisher quit AuctionAds quickly is the fact that you don’t see any result the first few day, because it might take up to a week for the auction to end, and only then will you receive your commission.

That’s why AuctionAds asks it’s publisher to give them a chance of 10 days. I’ve heard from many publishers that this Ten Day Challenge was a big success, and decided to give the challenge a try myself.
Previously I already had AuctionAds on CashCook.Info, but have removed them after I saw there were no revenue at all for 3 days.

Today is day number 5 for my AuctionAds challenge, and here are the results:
Impressions:14802 Clicks: 213 CTR: 1.44% Revenue:$0.13

Just a quick note, this Impressions are not the same as Adsense Impressions. Adsense counts a single page view as a single impression, even if there’s 3 ads on that page. AuctionAds, on the other hand, counts every ad view as an impression, this means that if a visitor shows a page with 3 ads, this counts as 3 impressions.
Anyway, with this said, I can say that AuctionAds is getting almost 10 times the clicks Adsense gets.
However, the revenue is not at all close to the Adsense revenue.
Beside that, my Adsense CTR, and with it the revenue dropped by nearly 50% once I introduced AuctionAds , so for now I’m only loosing money from AuctionAds.

Nevertheless, I promised myself to keep AuctionAds for ten days, and I’m going to keep this promise, maybe after day number 7, when a whole week ends, I might see an increase in revenue.

When blogging, one of the best spots to place your Adsense Ad is in the body of your post.
CashCook.Info receives 75%+ of it’s clicks from the ads that I integrate in the post.

There’s only one problem with those ads. Google Adsense allows no more then 3 Ads on a single page, and with the standard tools Wordpress supplies, on all pages that have more then one post(front page, search results, archives, etc.), all posts that contain Adsense ads will display those ads. Needless to say, eventually you will get banned.

After searching around the internet, I haven’t found any plugin that deals with the problem, and decided to create a solution myself.

I can say for sure that this solution is not the most elegant solution there is, and maybe creating a plugin would have been the best idea, but I’m the lazy type of a person, never coded a plugin before, and for now did not know all the syntax one needs to learn so that he can write Wordpress plugins.

Enough ranting, let’s see how is it done:
First of all, you’ll need some plugin that will enable you to run PHP code within posts.
I personally use runPHP. It’s very easy to install and use, only annoying part about it, is that you have to tick the option to run PHP code each and every time you write a new post, and I tend to forget that.

Next, create a file in your blog’s home directory called adsense.php, which will include your Google Adsense code.
Now, go to your theme editor, and add the next line in your header, anywhere after the <body> tag:

That’s it, you are done with preparations, and are ready to insert Adsense code within your posts.

Now wherever you want to ad Adsense in your post, ad one of the next codes, according to the number of such ads you want to display per page.

A few days ago, while checking my daily traffic report, I’ve noticed a new traffic source.
When I checked out the site, I found out the dude is actually scraping all my content to his own blog.

For those who don’t know what scraping is, I’ll explain.
Since the era of RSS feeds, there’s no problem to write a script that will read a blog’s feed, and repost all the content on another blog. This way, each time I post anything new, the scraper sees it, and posts the exact same post on his own blog.

In the beginning I was annoyed, was afraid that now his readers will be stealing my bandwidth, downloading my freebies, and will not get to see my intriguing Adsense Ads.
However, after some research, I realized I can use this for my own advantage.

First thing I’ve done, is going to my cPanel, and setting up “HotLink Protection”. Now each time anybody tries to download anything from my site from a domain that is not CashCook.Info, he’ll be redirected to my homepage(http://cashcook.info/). So if any of the scraper’s readers want to download anything, they’ll be redirected to my homepage, will have to use the search option to find the product, and meanwhile, check out my precious Adsense.

But things don’t stop here. From now on I’m going to make more and more references to my old posts, so that when the new posts are scraped, the scraper will also link to my old posts, giving me some deep links, which will in turn improve my off-site SEO.

And finally, I am going to post affiliate links on CashCook.Info from time to time, and guess who will be distributing them all over the net? Yup the same scrapers whose only intention is to steal my content.

However, if your content was scraped, and you still dislike the idea despite what I said earlier, there’s a very good way to fight the scrapers.
Just drop a quick mail to their host, saying the guy is stealing your intellectual property. Mention phrases like “copyright infringement”, and all those other words lawyers love, and I doubt any body will continue scraping your content for long after their host threatens to close their account.
